Summary:

If a man cheats, end the relationship! A ring and commitment to vows didn’t stop Bob Miller from acting a fool in more ways than one. He faces many challenges with the finalization of his divorce to Sarah Morgan while also juggling being the number one suspect in a case for a missing woman: his mistress. Sarah Morgan is not new to the procedures of seeking justice in murder cases, which comes in handy as the case regarding her former husband Adam stirs up some new interests. The book’s twists and turns leave you wondering…is this the perfect divorce? Or will it be “‘till death do us part”?

For some background, this is the second book in the series to The Perfect Marriage. Apparently I read that one in 2024 and absolutely hated it (don’t look at my StoryGraph review if you loved it, because I tore it to shreds!). However, I think with how little I truly remember of the plot and what it had, it did not affect my journey with reading this one.

Quotes, Questions, and Reflections:

“To me, trust is like glass. Once you break it, you can’t put it back together – and even if you tried, you’d end up cutting yourself in the process. So, you may as well just throw it away.”

That’s gangster as hellll! Sarah don’t play about her boundaries, we should all take note of that.

Pg. 108 - Bob Miller evaluates Sarah as a psychopath, after just fighting for their marriage to stay together. Why the quick switch? You just spent all this energy begging for this woman back and now you feel differently like it’s HER fault you cheated and got caught…

Chapter 24 - Alejandro and Sarah have this SICKENING tension between them that leads me to believe they crave each other in ways they can’t really discuss…I bet she will rock his world by the end of the book at least once AND Bob would be pissed about it.

“That’s the human spirit for you. We can endure the worst in the physical world and still persist because only our body lives here. And that’s why, when we perish, we leave only our body behind. I wonder if anyone will ever find mine.”

DAMN STACY! Rip me to shreds why don’t you…She kept her mind on deep thoughts basically preparing herself to die and accepting that. There’s so much power in that.

“I targeted him because I knew he had money and a wife. That’s my type. Being an event model doesn’t pay the bills, but fucking over other people sure does. It’s risky business, and it’s landed me in legal trouble before, but I never thought it could land me six feet under – and at this point, that’s only if I’m lucky.”

Now Stacy girl…as long as you know you dead wrong for that, cool. But you didn’t ever have a plan b? A plan c or d? Like even just some boxing classes or some serious fighting skills to at least protect yourself would have been smart. You can’t go around blackmailing unhinged men for money and not assume one or a few of them would turn into a killer and you’d have to deal with that. You bold as hell!?

“Your dad may have broken my trust, but he still has yours. And although he hasn’t been the best to me, he’s been that to you. We both love you more than anything, and whether your dad and I are together or not, that'll never change.”

Yeah Sarah you better than me cause I would’ve told her her daddy ain’t shit, aint never been shit, aint never gon be shit…so yeah.

Overall Thoughts…

What a perfect little bow to tie it all together, hm. And she still fuckin on Alejandro! Bob was talking way too much, so he met his ultimate demise the only way he really could have. I’m sure there isn’t a way for Sarah to continue on this path of taking down stupid men, but it would be dope to kind of see her become a vigilante for battered women or something. Carissa being saved was not something I anticipated but that’s one less body to be caught, right? How badass of Sarah to really get Alejandro to flip on Bob AND still get her rocks off! She's scary but she is definitely plotted. Always 50 steps ahead fr…

As much as I didn’t care for The Perfect Marriage, this one definitely kept me interested the whole way through. My burning question is: why kill Stevens? And who did it? Was his death truly necessary for the plot, because Bob wasn’t truly tied in as the killer but it seemed like he died with really important and necessary information.

Plan on giving this one a read?
