wow...
The first thing out of my mouth was "okayyyy representationnnn!!!!" You know how black folks be when they like something they didn't know for certain they would like..."okayyyyy" 🤣
The introduction is quick, in your face, and maybe even a little confusing...which as a reader I can understand it being frustrating. But it's exactly how Jabari, our MMC, felt as well. A new school in the middle of the year and having to prove himself smart enough - no, worthy of whatever this high-end school has to offer. His ego is strong and gets in the way of the functionality of the team at times, but you can't help but love him! Before you are quick to judge his blunt personality and overpowering confidence ask yourself..."would I feel this way if he were white?" RIGHT!

I absolutely love the FMCs September and Alicent. They represent strength, kindness, and RAW POWER!?!?
Just raw all across the board is crazy, and yes if I could relate to any character it would be September. She's cute, in tune with the earth, and can throw a mean ass punch. BADDIES EVERYWHERE! I do wonder who the ultimate love interest for Jabari will be because I got flirtatious vibes from September on day 1 but his banter and playing fighting with Alicent could be a slow burn too...
I can't say too much more about the plot without giving away spoilers. I've never fully finished a manga before (the ones I tried just didn't hold my attention) so completing this one in two days registers to me as excellent creativity, relatability, and fluidity. The artwork is incredible! Some pages don't have words and yet I couldn't find my myself to turn the page too soon - I wanted to soak in every detail and imagine every scene the way it was intended.
